How long does it take to get extensions put in? That’s a pretty common question without a simple answer. It really depends on how the extensions are being applied and how good your stylist is at putting them in. Let’s take a look at the different methods of applying extensions and how long each should take. Bear in mind that the application you choose will help determine how often you will need to have them replaced so keep that in mind when you select your style.
Glue In Method
The is by far the easiest and quickest method to add extensions to your natural hair. In this method the stylist glues in wefts of hair and you can walk out with a full head of hair in as little as an hour. But there are also drawbacks to this method, for starters you will need to remove them every 3 or 4 weeks and have them done again. You can get extensions that are glued in individually, it does look far more natural but you can expect to be at the salon for 3 hours or longer.
Fusion Method
The fusion method or the track and sew method both take much longer and sometimes they are broken up into a couple of sessions. For the fusion method, the stylist will attach a small number of hair strands to your own hair using glue and a tool to adhere the extensions. On the other hand track and sew takes larger wefts of hair and sews them in places. Both are time-consuming and costly.
Cost of Putting in Extensions
Just like any other salon service the cost can vary greatly. The cost will depend on the method you choose and the length of time it takes. The quicker it is to put in your extensions the less it will cost you. However, you also need to realize that the cheaper it is, the less natural that your hair is going to look. If you invest more money in your extensions they are going to look better and last you longer. Ironically while it can take hours to have your extensions put in, it take less than 10 minutes to remove them.
Hair extensions can look absolutely beautiful and can take your personal style to the next level. They are an investment of both time and money, before you book your appointment at the salon make sure you understand how much work they are going to be.
